Ideals of the Idea League

The IDEA League is a close collaboration on strategic policy issues between four European technological universities that are committed to the highest international standards in both research and education. We illustrate how the four universities established common educational quality management principles in response to the Bologna declaration and the increasing competition in attracting the best students. This set of principles is successfully implemented leading to the establishment of a diploma supplement. By reviewing and comparing the degree structures in a variety of domains of the four institutions, mutual recognition of degrees could be established providing student mobility as part of the curriculum. English is accepted as common language but further training needs to be offered, especially taking account of the cultural differences. The IDEA League expects to benefit from this alliance by recruiting students abroad and by using its collective power in attracting more funding. Collaborations are fostered at all levels to share best practice. In future, the alliance wants its brand more widely recognised.
